Grandparents and Beyond

Chai Mitzvah, in partnership with the Grandparent-Grandchild Connection School Program, has created the Grandparents and Beyond curriculum in order to help grandparents and others pass on the love of Judaism that they desire for the next generation.

It contains Chai Mitzvah’s signature text-based conversations, as well as fun activities to engage all ages. The materials are designed not just for grandparents, but for any older adults and younger friends – for example, grand nieces and nephews or family friends.

Activities are designed to be Zoom-friendly, as many grandparents are geographically separated from their grandchildren.

There are three ways to participate in Grandparents and Beyond:
1. On your own schedule with your youngsters (ages 5-18)
2. As part of a virtual group run by Chai Mitzvah with family breakout rooms
3. As part of a school program – students and their grandparents, or students and other older adults (Great intergenerational program, also good for Social Action!)

The packet includes 12 sourcebooks, one for each month, filled with meaningful text-based conversations and fun activities to engage all ages.

TOPICS: Rites of Passage, Tzedakah/Philanthropy, Individual and Community, Interpersonal Relationships, Mindfulness/Conscious Living, Adding New Insights and Meaning to the Passover Seder, Israel and the Jewish Spirit, Gratitude: Modim Anachnu Lach, Judaism and the Environment, Leadership, Death and Loss, Arc of the Fall Holidays
