The Days are Getting Longer!

Getting through the long, dark and cold months of New Jersey’s  winters has always been a challenge for me.

However, the holiday of Tu B’Shvat, the New Year of the Trees, with its promise of Spring to come, always brings me great joy, illuminates my soul and brings me comfort in the darkness of Winter.

I think of the daffodil bulbs I have planted under the ground waiting and preparing to emerge from the darkness.  I wait for the birds to return and for the buds to appear on the trees outside my home.

What flowers will I plant this spring?

These thoughts bring me hope.

I look forward to to the time again when I can set a colorful festive Tu B’Shvat table and gather my friends together in my home for the Tu B’Shvat Seder as I have done in past years. This past year I gathered friends together on Zoom for festive a Tu B’Shvat Seder and plan to do so again this year.

I am also looking forward to leading a Chai Mitzvah Tu B’Shvat Seder. We will honor the cycle of the seasons and the passing of time. We will acknowledge the shortness of the days and their increasing length, the chill in the air with the promise of warmth to come. Help us honor and celebrate Tu B’Shevat,  the New Year of the Trees.

Please join us for our Chai Mitzvah Tu B’Shvat community gathering on Monday, January 17 at 7:30 PM.
