Donating to the poor and to other social needs is not the prerogative act of especially generous people, but rather an expected act of each and every Jew and every Jewish community. As a result of our collective experience as slaves in Egypt, Jews are commanded to be just and prevent the suffering of others.

Jewish law is concerned with meeting the needs of the poor and at the same time safeguarding the dignity of those in need.

We will explore these themes and how we can incorporate them into our daily lives.
