A Broader and Brighter Season

Spring has officially arrived! The daffodils are blooming, the buds are on the trees outside my windows! What do the seeds of Spring represent? For me, it is a time of preparing to leave the tighter, darker places of winter. Historically, we prepare to leave mitzrayim, the slavery the Israelite people endured in Egypt for so many years, and to move into a place of freedom, greater expansiveness, and new beginnings. Pesach is just a few short weeks away!

For me, Spring represents a  time for cleaning out the accumulated crumbs of Winter that have collected in our hearts, and creating space for new opportunities to experience in our personal lives. It is a time to view the world through a different lens, perhaps a lens with a broader and brighter perspective than the lens of Winter’s dreariness.

At this season of Spring, I also reflect on the tight place inhabited by the people of Ukraine at this time. I pray with all my heart that their struggle to maintain their  sovereignty is successful and that we see Democracy triumph in their land.

Wishing everyone a Sweet and Peaceful Pesach!
