The Jewish Day of Love

The Jewish Day of Love, Tu B’Av, will be celebrated on the evening of August 18, and today, August 19, 2024! This holiday is also known as the 15th day of the month of Av. The greeting for Tu B’Av is “Chag ahava sameach,” which means “happy love holiday.” Tu B’Av was almost unnoticed in the Jewish calendar for many centuries but it has been rejuvenated in recent times, especially in the modern state of Israel. Today it is gradually becoming a Jewish Day of Love.

My daughter was recently married and all I can think about is the Jewish Love.

What I mean by that is going through all the steps in a Jewish wedding is all about love and community. From signing the Ketubah,  standing under the Chuppah, to smashing the glass, and dancing the Hora. The love that was felt in that room. The love that we shared with our entire community of friends and family.

That is what Chai Mitzvah is! It is the love for being part of a Jewish community. I hope that you will join our community, whether you lead a group or participate in one of our virtual programs!
