About the Program

The mission of Chai Mitzvah, The Resource Center for Jewish Engagement is to build community and help Judaism grow.

We are non-denominational and offer a broad range of materials and programs for small group learning, for adults, teens, and families. Chai Mitzvah groups meet both in-person and virtually. In-person groups can be lay-led or you can join one of Chai Mitzvah’s virtual groups. Our Scholars Circle program brings timely topics affecting the Jewish community from leading academics to lay and professional audiences.

Small Group Conversation

Chai Mitzvah’s own, small, virtual groups build community among people of varied backgrounds through meaningful, enriching, conversation around Jewish texts.

Book-group style in-person Chai Mitzvah groups strengthen old, and build new, relationships through both conversations and POP: the Power Of Passion tikkun olam projects. See our Celebration Brochure for more information.

Materials for Small Groups

Chai Mitzvah groups use specially designed materials. Easy to lead, a professional teacher is not necessary. The sourcebooks are clearly laid out and accessible to those of all backgrounds. Relevant texts in Hebrew and English from contemporary and traditional sources are included – knowledge of Hebrew is not necessary. Materials are available at little or no cost.

Scholars Circle

Scholars Circle free virtual live lectures are held every two weeks and feature leading academics on timely topics affecting the Jewish community. After each lecture, there is a Q and A session. Additional resources and recordings of the lectures are included on our website.
