Virtual Jewish Journeys – Topic: Judaism and the Environment

NOTE: WE WILL MEET ON JUNE 20 BECAUSE JUNE 13 IS THE SECOND DAY OF SHAVUOT

How does Judaism view the relationship between human beings and the environment? We will explore two competing ideas as we relate to the world: “I am but dust and ashes” (spoken by Avraham in Genesis 18:27) and “The world was created for me” (a phrase from the Babylonian Talmud, Sanhedrin 37b) as they relate to our responsibility towards the world and all of its creations.
